Coldsnap
ColdSnap is the sonic brainchild of Chennai-based producer Rohan Mohanty, an artist who views music as a force that shapes emotions, fuels the self, and inspires a state of being. For him, creation begins with experience—each track is born from a moment, a feeling, or a memory, transformed into sound through deep synthesis, production, and DJing. With a decade of immersion in electronic music, he channels these inspirations into hypnotic, atmospheric grooves, where rhythm and texture become vessels for emotion. Whether sculpting intricate soundscapes or crafting seamless DJ sets, his approach is about more than just music—it’s about translating lived moments into transcendent sonic journeys.
Before he became a creator, Rohan was an ardent seeker—immersing himself in the visceral energy of dance music, attending world-class festivals, and absorbing the nuances of the underground. This lived experience fuels ColdSnap’s sonic ethos: a seamless fusion of vibrant musical dialects, meticulously woven into a singular, hypnotic groove. His sound is an odyssey through dark, cavernous textures and lush, spatial euphoria—driven by the philosophies of movement, tension, and transcendence.
Inspired by avant-garde imprints like KSR, Float, Klockworks, Sungate, Dynamic Reflection, Illegal Alien, Repetitive Rhythm Research, Craigie Knowes, Kalahari Oyster, Proxima, Transmigration Cult, Zebra Rec, Non Series, and Fur:ther Sessions, ColdSnap’s sonic identity oscillates between shadowy, cerebral intensity for nocturnal reverie and expansive, minimalistic atmospheres for sun-drenched open-air journeys.
Since 2021, ColdSnap has been officially signed to Soupherb Records and Subtrail, where he debuted with Nail That Snail and followed up with Cold Theory—both of which have been tested and championed on global dance floors by pioneers such as Calmchor, Breger, and more. His live presence has seen him share the stage with an elite roster of producers, including Monoloc, DJ Lion, Matt Minimal, Doctor Jeep, Eden Burns, Ash Roy, Calm Chor, Breger, Kohra, and others.
ColdSnap exists at the intersection of technical mastery and visceral emotion—where synthesis isn't just an art form but a language of expression, and where dance music isn't just rhythm but a conduit to something far deeper.
